We left our eco-loo friendly camp behind and headed for the Lamai Wedge and the hope of seeing a wildebeest crossing on the Mara River. We were not disappointed!! On our game drive to the next camp we passed thousands of wildebeest dotted amongst the plains of the Serengeti. I imagine the plains in the States used to look like this one hundred plus years ago. The drive was incredibly scenic and a bit more lush as we neared the river. Visualize wide open spaces with tall wheaten colored grasses swaying with the breeze and puffy cotton ball clouds. As usual, we didn’t miss a meal and on our way to find the perfect lunch spot we found three gorgeous cheetah sleeping under a clump of bush. Further along to the destination we could see the wildebeest roaming the river bank in anticipation of crossing. And, a huge croc or two hoping for a crossing as well.I think this area was my most favorite. We saw many lions and cubs, hyena, hippos, zebra, elephants, topi, and gazelle. And the landscape took my breath away. Africa secured a big spot in my heart and soul and I hope to return sooner rather than later. Thank you Mom and Dad!
